Kenyan Delegation Visits NRAA
HE Chairman of NRAA Dr. Hamad Al-Dhawyani received at NRAA’s headquarter the Kenyan delegation headed by HE Dr Amina Mohamed, the Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. During the meeting, the bilateral cooperation aspects, especially in records and archives field, were discussed. The delegation was introduced to the Sultanate’s experiment in the field of records and archives and NRAA’s tasks in educating both local and international community and its participations in historical and cultural by conducting local and international documentary exhibitions and conferences. They also discussed the important role played by record centers and archives in the states which seek to preserve their history and develop modern records and archives management systems.
Then, the delegation was briefed on different NRAA’s technical divisions, and listened to a presentation on NRAA’s objectives, jurisdictions, and tasks, records and manuscripts management systems implemented by NRAA in the bodies subject to records and archives law, and also about the EDRMS (Electronic Documents & Records Management System). Moreover, they also visited the D.G. of Records Organization to learn about the NRAA’s applicable classification system, the restoration processes carried out by the specialized team at NRAA using modern devices in this field, the workflow in microfilm and digital storage sections and biological laboratory.
After that, the delegation was introduced to the activities and events of the D.G. of Research & Records Circulation. They were briefed on the phrases of preparing documentary exhibitions and the use of customized equipment for this purpose. Moreover, they also listen to an explanation about the oral history project by which NRAA aims at recording and preserving the narrated history which constitutes an integral part of Omani national memory beside the written record.
At the end of its visit, the Kenyan delegation lauded the achievements and progress of NRAA in records and archives field and in qualifying its staff beside its use of state of art devices and equipment to improve and accelerate workflow. They also admired NRAA’s roles in enriching the global knowledge by organizing regional and international conference and exhibitions.
